The 2018 Mazda MX-5 RF will join its soft-top sibling at dealerships this month with a starting price of $32,800 including destination.
Now in its second model year, the MX-5 RF does get a few upgrades, including newly standard heated cloth sport seats on the Club trim, standard Advanced Keyless Entry on all models, new color options, and heated leather-trimmed seats in MX-5 RF Club’s Brembo/BBS Package.
Both the MX-5 Club and MX-5 Grand Touring models come standard with LED headlights, Mazda Connect infotainment technologies with a seven-inch display, two USB inputs, Bluetooth, Bose Premium nine-speaker audio system, SiriusXM satellite radio with a four-month trial subscription, Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and a leather steering wheel and shift knob. The MX-5 RF Grand Touring is priced from $33,640.
Since there’s no Sport trim available on the RF model, the standard MX-5 RF Club comes equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip rear differential, a front shock tower brace, and Bilstein dampers. On the outside are 17-inch dark alloy wheels, piano black mirror caps, front air dam, and rear spoiler extensions while the cabin gets red seat stitching. There’s an available Brembo/BBS package ($3,770 additional) that adds forged, lightweight BBS wheels, body sill extensions, a rear bumper skirt, and heated, black leather-trimmed sport seats.

Customers who want a bit of luxury with their sports car can opt for the Grand Touring trim that adds body-color exterior mirrors, automatic on/off headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic climate control, heated leather seats, navigation, Adaptive Front-lighting System, High Beam Control, and Lane-Departure Warning System. New for 2018 is available Auburn Nappa leather, which was previously only available in the U.S. on the MX-5 RF Launch Edition models ($300 additional).
The Mazda MX-5 RF is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine generating 155 horsepower to the rear wheels. All models come standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but a six-speed automatic is available for $600 additional on the MX-5 Club trim and $1,075 on the MX-5 Grand Touring. An automatic transmission is not available on the MX-5 RF Club with Brembo/BBS package.
